The School Board recognizes that circumstances might exist that would cause a professional employee to request a release from his/her contract. The School Board however, is responsible for the employment of a professional staff that will help educate Deerfield students in as effective a manner as is possible. This being so, resignations for reasons of professional advancement will be accepted and approved only during the period commencing with the date the professional signs the contract in the Spring and ending with the following July 1, and then only for the ensuing school year. Furthermore, the School Board will not approve such resignations if a competent professional person cannot be hired to replace the person seeking approval of his or her resignation request.

Resignation for medical or personal (non-professional) reasons will be reviewed and acted upon by the School Board on a case by case basis. Such resignations will only be approved pending the hire of a suitable replacement.
