DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE POLICY
As a recipient of federal grant monies, the Deerfield School District is required by the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988 and government regulations promulgated thereunder the enact a drug-free workplace policy and to certify to federal agencies which provide grant monies that it will provide a drug-free workplace. The Deerfield School District policy and certification is stated below:

NOTIFICATION TO EMPLOYEES
"Workplace" is defined as the site for the performance of work done generally or specifically in connection with a federal grant. That includes school buildings or other school premises; any school-owned vehicle used to transport students to and from school or school activities; off school property during any school-sponsored or school-approved activity, event or function, such as a field trip or athletic event, where students are under the jurisdiction of the school district.
YOU ARE FURTHER NOTIFIED that it is a condition of your continued employment generally and specifically on any activity funded through a federal grant that you will comply with the above policy of the Deerfield School District and will notify your supervisor of your conviction of any criminal drug statute for a violation occurring in the workplace, no later than 5 days after such conviction.
It is the intent of the Deerfield School District that all employees perform responsibly and act in the best interests of students. Violation of District’s policy as outlined above will adversely affect these goals and is unacceptable, dangerous, and in violation of law.
