Energy Conservation Policy

The Deerfield School Board has established the following required procedures in order to conserve energy and ensure economical operation of the facility:

       1.  All thermostats in Deerfield Community School shall be set at 69° F during occupied periods and at 60° F whenever the night set-back is operational.  Building occupants should make clothing decisions based upon the established building temperature.

       2.  Only a custodian has authorization to adjust thermostats in the building.  Uncomfortable room temperatures or other concerns with the building environment should be reported to a custodian, who will address the situation to the extent possible.

       3.  All windows will remain closed when the building’s heating system is operating.

       4.  All lights will be turned off in any unoccupied area.
