ADMINISTRATIVE REVIEW
POLICY
The Chichester School Board
endorses the working definition of school leadership contained in the following
six “Draft Standards for School Leaders” developed by the Interstate School
Leaders Licensure Consortium:
A school
administrator is an educational leader who promotes success of all students
by:
1. Facilitating the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a vision of learning that is shared and supported by the school community.
2.
Advocating, nurturing, and
sustaining a school culture and instructional program conducive to student
learning and staff professional growth.
3.
Ensuring management of the
organization, operations, and resources for a safe, efficient, and effective
learning environment.
4.
Collaborating with families
and community members, responding to diverse community interests and needs, and
mobilizing community resources.
5.
Acting with integrity,
fairness, and in an ethical manner.
6.
Understanding, responding
to, and influencing the larger political, social, economic, legal, and cultural
context.

1. The superintendent will, in cooperation with the school administrator(s), revise/update as needed the attached performance review document. This review document will reflect a two-part administrative review:
a) An analysis of success demonstrated in achieving specific objectives which originate from both district and personal/professional goals.
b) An analysis of
success demonstrated in achieving specific criteria indicative of the leadership
role defined by the 6 standards.

2. By the end of the second month of the school year the superintendent and school administrator(s) will decide upon and document up to 10 objectives which will provide the focus for part a of the review.
3. Prior to the School Board’s March
business meeting, the superintendent and the administrator(s) will begin a
process which will include:
a) A self-evaluation by the administrator(s) to establish his/her perceived level of success in achieving the review’s objectives and performance criteria.
b) (A) meeting(s)
between the superintendent and administrator(s) to discuss the
self-evaluation.
c) Preparation by the
superintendent of an evaluation of the administrator(s) level of success in
achieving the review’s objectives and performance
criteria.
d) (A) meeting(s)
between the superintendent and administrator(s) to discuss the
evaluation.
4. At the School Board’s March business meeting, the superintendent will present a review of the administrator(s) performance. If accepted by the Board, this review will serve as criteria in deciding salary adjustment and contract renewal. A school administrator in disagreement with the superintendent’s review will be provided an opportunity to respond to it.
