JOB DESCRIPTION

 

TITLE: Athletic Director

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Bachelor’s Degree from an Accredited College or University

2. Familiar with school athletic programs

3. Able to manage and oversee athletic programs

REPORTS TO:

School Principal

JOB GOALS:

To provide interested Allenstown School students an opportunity to participate in extracurricular athletic activities that will foster physical skills, a sense of worth and competence, a knowledge and understanding of the pleasure of sport, and the principles of fair play.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Organize and administer the overall program of extracurricular athletics, both intramural and interscholastic, for the District.

2. Assist the Principal in the selection, assignment, and evaluation of athletic coaches and staff members.

3. Foster good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program.

4. Assume responsibility for the organization and scheduling of all interscholastic athletic events.

5. Schedule officials and provide for proper spectator supervision.

6. Coordinate transportation with the transportation supervisor for out of District athletic contests.

7. Assist the Principal in overseeing the rules, regulations and policies governing the conduct of student-athletes.

8. Assist the coaches to ensure that academic and behavioral requirements are met by students for participation in each sport and to verify each athlete’s eligibility.

9. Assist the coaches to ensure that the physical requirements of all student-athletes are met prior to the beginning of each athletic season.

10. Recommend to the Principal a budget for the interscholastic athletic program.

11. Assist in the requisition of supplies and equipment for the athletic program.

12. Supervise all ticket sales and fundraising events of the athletic program.

13. Arrange all details of the needs of the visiting teams, including gymnasium and locker room services if appropriate.

14. Provide the Assistant Principal with schedules for the use of fields and gymnasiums for practices and games.

15. Maintain records of the results of athletic contests, and maintain a record file for all award winners.

16. Direct an annual recognition program for student-athletes from the Allenstown schools.

17. Maintain an inventory of athletic equipment and supplies and ensure the proper care of such by student-athletes and coaches.

18. Perform such other duties in the areas of athletics as may be assigned by the Principal.
