Pembroke Performance Project
In addition to credit requirements for graduation, all Pembroke Academy
seniors are required to complete the components of the Pembroke Performance
Project, whose aim is to:
- raise the level of expectations for all graduates;
- enhance school and community relations by producing successful,
independent learners and contributing community members;
- encourage stronger bonds between students' academic experience and
students' experience of the world at large; and
- increase the integration of learning.
Specifically, each senior will be expected to complete the following
Performance Project components as a requirement for participation in graduation:
- A minimum of 30 hours of community service
- A personal resume and cover letter
- A senior interview with a faculty member and community member
- A senior questionnaire
- Five items chosen from the following menu:
- Proof of college acceptance, military enlistment, or full-time job
- Proof of voter registration
- Verification of completed PSAT
- Written synopsis of a government meeting attended for at least 2 hours
- Attendance at an approved cultural event during non-school hours (such as
school plays, concerts, etc.)
- Attendance at a non-credit class or workshop during non-school hours
- Letter of recommendation from an employer, teacher, or advisor
- Verification of a completed vocational assessment test, ASVAB, or career
exploration programs (CHOICES)
- Verification of the attainment of the highest rank obtainable in Boy
Scouts (Eagle Scout), Girl Scouts, 4-H, etc.
- Recommendation of an advisor/coach indicating sustained active membership
and participation (three out of four consecutive high school years) in the
same co-curricular or community activity
- Achieved perfect attendance for one year
- No discipline referrals for 6 semesters
- Proof of possession and use of a public library card
All seniors submit their personal resume and cover letter to the Director of
Curriculum in the Main Office. Students are required to submit forms to
their Assistant Principal for verification of items 1 and 5 from the list above.
You should keep copies of everything you submit to or have returned by the
Pembroke Performance Project; freshman will keep a file of their materials in
their START classroom. Check the bulletin board in front of the Assistant
Principals' Office for due dates and other pertinent information. Please
submit all paperwork in a timely manner
