In partnership with Pembroke Academy and the New Hampshire State Department of Education, the Pembroke Adult Diploma Program offers a variety of courses that can be applied to the completion of a high school diploma. For convenience, each class convenes one night a week from 6 to 9pm for 15 weeks. Usually, three different courses are offered during each session. There are three sessions per year: fall, spring, and summer. Because of the heavy content load of each course, more than two absences per course will result in a failure of the course.
There are two scenarios in which a student can earn credit through this program:
1) A student who is currently enrolled in a traditional high school day program may enroll in one or more Adult Diploma classes with prior written permission form the student’s guidance counselor. Upon successful completion of the course, the earned credits can then be transferred to the student’s ‘day school’. The fee for this program is $150 per course.
2) A student who has withdrawn from high school and would like to earn their diploma through the Pembroke Adult Diploma Program may do so for a fee of $75 per course. Previously earned academic credits from other institutions, as well as experiential learning credits in the areas of home making, employment, and military service may be applied towards the credit requirements as mandated by the State Department of Education. A student must take and pass a minimum of 2 courses with the PADP in order to qualify as an eligible recipient of a diploma through this program.
The credits required for the completion of this program are as follows:
4 English
2 Science
2 Mathematics
½ Economics
½ Civics
1 US History
1 Social Studies Elective
½ Computer Literacy
8½ Electives
