Title 1
Title I is a federally funded program designed to help students needing
support in academic areas. At the Pembroke Hill and Village Schools this
support is done as both small group pull-out, and as in-class support.
Students receiving Title I support are selected as a part of the schools'
Response to Intervention (RTI) process, based on teacher recommendation, as
well as performance on standardized and curriculum based assessments.
Parental permission is required for student participation in the program,
and parent support is very important. Progress reports are sent home with
regular classroom report cards. Title I staff is available during set
conference hours and by appointment on an as needed basis.
The Title I program is overseen by Mrs. Sylvia Hunter M.Ed. Our Title I
teachers include Ms. Kelly Degulis, Ms. Mary Triolo, Ms. Janet Wisler, who
all teach Title I Reading at Village School, and also, at Hill School, Ms.
Valeria Crossley, and Anne Morin who teach Title I Reading and Ms. Breeda
Whitmore who teaches Title I Math.
