What Happened In America During Morrison's Lifetime?

Isaac Morrison's Family Tree

What Happened On the First and Last Days
of Isaac Morrison's Life?
by James H.

You are going to find out what had happened on the day Isaac Morrison was born and when he died:

There was a guy named William Henry. He would usually be called Willy or Pennasye. He was born the same year Morrison was. He had been born in June of the year 1824. He was older than Morrison by a couple of months.
On the day Morrison was born, there was someone that was passing away. His name was George Swearingen. He had been hung and died when Morrison was being born. He had been hung in Cumberland, Allegancy County, in Maryland.
The day after Isaac Morrison died, there was a guy named Henry Lambert who murdered a family of three. The family of three had a mother a father and a little child.
A couple of days after Morrison died, they [the people of Concord, NH] made a perspective view of town hall in Concord NH. They hadn't built it yet, but they were thinking of it. They guessed that the building would cost $150,000.00 when they built it. In today’s money, it would cost $3,409,090.91 to build something like that. The building had three different floors. They had a basement, a first floor, a second floor, and a third floor. The basement had 20 rooms in it without counting the parking lot and the stairwells. The first floor had 30 rooms on that floor alone. The second floor had 20 rooms. The third floor had 5 rooms. The biggest room was the armory room on the third floor. The armory room had armor through out that specific part.

[Teacher's note - there were probably no plans for a parking lot in 1901.]
[According to an obituary in the Manchester Union,] Isaac Morrison had died in Deerfield NH. He had died because of an illness. He was born where he had died in the small town of Deerfield.
The day that Isaac Morrison died, there was a guy named Narragansett Grange that had followed Morrison to Heaven. Narragansett Grange had held a special event before he had passed away.

[Teacher's note - The Narragansett Grange was an organization - basically a men's club. James must be refering to an event that the Grange held in 1901, perhaps a wake.]
There were a couple of good weather conditions for December of 1901. I will put in a couple of days of weather conditions before and after he had died. Here are a couple of the dates:

December 3rd for the 4th- Local weather conditions at 8 a.m. Today as reported by Mr. W. W. Flint local weather observer. Highest temperature in 24 hours, 54; lowest temp this morning, 26; melted snow.

December 4th for the 5th- Local weather conditions at 8 a.m. Today as reported by Mr. W. W. Flint local weather observer. Highest temp for 24 hours, 28; lowest temp for this morning, 17; snowfall 19”

December 5th for the 6th- Local weather conditions at 8 a.m. Today as reported by Mr. W. W. Flint local weather observer. Highest temp n 24 hours, 19; lowest temp this morning, 11;

December 6th for the 7th- Local weather conditions at 8 a.m. Today as reported by Mr. W. W. Flint local weather observer. Highest temp in 24 hours, 18; lowest temp this morning 21 below zero.

December 7th for the 8th- Local weather conditions at 8 a.m. Today as reported by Mr. W. W. Flint local weather observer. Highest temp for 24 hours, 20; lowest temp for this morning 23 below zero.

Those are the dates I have got from the Concord Monitor in 1901. Those are the dates of the weather before he had died and when he had died.
The day that Isaac Morrison had died there was a big snowstorm that had left over 22” of snow on the ground in the Granite State.

The snow affected transportation. That meant that the people at his wake and funeral probably had a hard time getting there..

When Morrison was dying, a lot of new things were beginning to be invented. A lot of tranportation was coming to be and a lot of new building were coming out and being built. That is what happened on the day Isaac Morrison had died and had been born.
