                                          Joseph T. Browns  Family

Note: Joseph  T. Brown's family was really hard to find information on, but I
happened to find  enough for this project.

Joseph's father was Dr.  Stephen  Brown, he was born April 12, 1803. He had
married Mary Reynolds  April 22, 1830. They had to kids together they had
Moses, and Joseph T. Mary  soon had died June 26, 1842 at the age of thirty-nine.
Soon after Mary had died  Dr. Stephen brown had remarried to Merriam F. she was
his second wife and had  two kids with Stephen Brown Mary A. and Sarah C. she
was the stepmother of  Joseph and Moses.
Joseph T. Brown was born June 28, 1833. He had  married Mary E.
They had two kids Cora M. and George Woodbury and Thomas S.  He died March
28,1895.
Mary E. was born September 27, 1837. She was the  wife of Joseph T. Brown and
was the mother of three kids Cora M., George W., and  Thomas S. she died
January 15, 1878 from Consumption.
Moses Brown was  born  May 29,1831. He was the oldest out of all of Stephen
and Mary's kids.  He married Susan R. They had two kids Mary L. and Charles
Sumner.
Mary  A. was born August 3,1837,then died July 22,1874. Martha A. was born
January  9,1842,and died May 10,1842.
Samuel Brown was born October 25,1752. He  moved from Northwood to Deerfield
when he was twenty-on years old. He married  Rhoda Eaton.

I did find out who Joseph's grandfather and great grand father was.  His
grandfather was Moses Brown and his great grand father was Joseph B.  Brown.

These are the people that I could find information  about but I also have
about forty-six as of what I know that is in the family.  Elise Brown and her
three daughters are included in the amount of family members  that I know of.
Elise Brown still lives her in Deerfield in the Brown house on  parade road. She
is Joseph T. Browns great granddaughter by marriage.

A few of the questions that I used to help get information where, are  there
any of the family members still living?  Yes, there are I only know  of four
but I'm sure that they're more than that still living. Another one of my
questions where do they all still live in Deerfield? No not all of them, just
Elise I believe. How many family members lived in Deerfield? Well has far as I
know most of his family moved here from either Northwood, Lee, or Seabrook,
and  then they all lived in Deerfield for a while.

I was also wondering if his family was wealthy? Yes they where, they  where
a very wealthy family and back then money was worth a lot more than what  it
does today. I believe that is one of the reasons as to why Joseph T. Brown
gave one of his sons that extra five hundred dollars all though I am not sure
why he did but I know his family was a wealthy family and it would be nice to
know if they still are.

One of the  things that the family did was they owned a tavern as a business.
I'm not really  sure if the whole family owned it and I'm not sure how long
they owned it for,  but I do know that they did that, and they where farmers
too. Joseph's dad was a  doctor, and worked on the farm I believe. Joseph also
worked as a farmer too.  Mary E. worked  as a housekeeper.

After Joseph T. Brown died he left a will to his kids saying that  Thomas
gets Five hundred dollars extra than the other two kids. But they where  all to
have an equal share of his real estate. As far as I know the total amount  of
money of his estate was twenty-three thousand and five hundred dollars. No
body knows why he got the five hundred extra and why the other two Cora M, and
George didn't but I think it's kind of interesting and I tried to find that
out  a long with finding more information about his children.

One of my questions that I had was, Did the family hate one of  the other
families in the town of Deerfield?  Unfortunately I was unable to  find the
answer to that. That was one of the few that I  was unable to  find, except for the
information on the other family members.

This project was kind of difficult for me to do but I enjoyed  learning the
stuff that I was able to find about Joseph T. Brown. I hope that  this report
will be able to help other students learn a little more about Joseph  T. Brown'
s family. I also hope that someone else will be able to find more  information
and be able to add on to this.
