PEMBROKE SCHOOL BOARD – SPECIAL MEETING

PEMBROKE ACADEMY

PEMBROKE, NEW HAMPSHIRE

THURSDAY, MAY 31, 2007, 4:30 P.M.

 

 

PRESENT:  Clint Hanson, Tammy Boucher, Rick Mitchell, Tom Serafin, Peter Warburton, Tom Haley.

 

1.   Call to Order

 

      Chair Clint Hanson called the special meeting to order at 5:15 P.M.

 

2.   Immediate Business

 

      A.  Citizens’ Comments

 

            None

 

      B.  Board Interviews

 

            Chair Clint Hanson reviewed the proposed interview process with the board.

 

            At 5:28 P.M. a motion to enter non-public session under RSA 91-A:3II(b) to conduct interviews for the Hill/Village Schools principalship and discuss contract terms was made by Tom Serafin, seconded by Tammy Boucher.  On a roll call, the board voted:

                                                Tom Serafin                                      YES

THE MOTION CARRIED

 

            Present:  Clint Hanson, Tammy Boucher, Rick Mitchell, Tom Serafin, Peter Warburton, Tom Haley, each of three candidates for the principalship interviewed separately.

 

            At 9:45 P.M., a motion to end the non-public session was made by Rick Mitchell, seconded by Tom Serafin.  On a roll call, the board voted:

                                                Rick Mitchell                                    YES

                                                Tom Serafin                                      YES

THE MOTION CARRIED

 

      C.  Selection of Principal

 

            Superintendent Tom Haley placed into nomination Ryan Quinn for principal of Hill and Village Schools beginning July 1, 2007.

 

            A motion was made by Tom Serafin, seconded by Rick Mitchell, to approve the superintendent’s nomination.

 

ALL IN FAVOR

THE MOTION CARRIED

 

      D.  Staff Request

 

            The board reviewed a request from Pembroke Academy staff member Virginia Guy to be allowed four paid professional days to accommodate a rescheduled overseas trip.

 

            A motion was made by Tammy Boucher, seconded by Rick Mitchell, to approve the request.

 

ALL VOTED NO

THE MOTION FAILED

 

3.   Adjournment

 

      At 9:55 P.M., a motion to adjourn the special meeting was made by Tammy Boucher, seconded by Tom Serafin.

 

ALL IN FAVOR

THE MOTION CARRIED

 

      The next regular scheduled meeting of the Pembroke School Board is Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at 7:00 P.M. at Pembroke Academy.
