The meeting was called to order at
Gordon Ellis led the Board in the Pledge of Allegiance.
A. Citizens/Staff Comments.
Dave Cummings and Neal Burns appreciated that Tom Haley would explain the legalities of the brochure.
B. Budget Promotion Committee Plan.
The board members discussed the efforts of the Budget Promotion Committee. The committee developed a brochure advocating support for the budget and teacher contract. Tom Haley explained that brochures which proactively advocate certain votes cannot be sent out under school board sponsorship or distributed by school children. The board is limited to factual communication.
It was discussed that, while board members individually may support the positions advocated in the prepared brochure, the board cannot sponsor or distribute it.
A motion was made by Tracey Miner to de-commission the Epsom Budget Promotion Committee from the Epsom School Board, seconded by Gordon Ellis.
