MINUTES OF MEETING

 

PRESENT:

            Board Members:  Barbara Doughty (Chair), Gordon Ellis, David Goulet, Tracey Miner,                                                    Bill Yeaton

            Superintendent of Schools: Tom Haley

            Assistant Superintendent of Schools: Peter Warburton

            Citizens/Staff/Other: Deb Grenier and  Lisa Bauer, ECS Staff Members

                                                 Wally Cummings, NEA

                                                 Ted Comstock and Barrett Cristina, New Hampshire School                                                     Boards Association

 

 

  1. Call to Order

 

      The meeting was called to order at 6:32 by Chair Barbara Doughty.

 

  1. Pledge of Allegiance

 

Gordon Ellis led the board in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

  1. Immediate Business

 

            A. Grievance Appeal Hearing

 

            At 6:34 P.M., a motion to enter non-public session under RSA 91-A:3(II)c to hear a

            grievance appeal was made by Bill Yeaton and seconded by Gordon Ellis.  On a roll call, the board voted:

                                                Dave Goulet               ABSTAIN

                                    THE MOTION CARRIED ON A VOTE OF 4-0

 

      PRESENT:

            A grievance appeal was heard by the board.

 

            At 6:56 a motion to end the non-public session was made by Bill Yeaton, seconded by Gordon Ellis.  On a roll call the board voted:

                                    THE MOTION CARRIED ON A VOTE OF 5-0

 

            Barbara Doughty (Chair) stated that no decisions were made by the board during the non-         public session.

 

            At 6:59 P.M., a motion to enter non-public session under RSA 91-A:3(II)e for the        purpose of discussion with Attorneys Comstock and Cristina was made by Barbara           Doughty, seconded by Gordon Ellis.  On a roll call, the board voted:

                                    THE MOTION CARRIED ON A VOTE OF 5-0

 

            PRESENT:

                        The attorneys provided legal advice.  The board discussed the information presented during the previous grievance appeal hearing.

 

                        At 7:46 P.M. a motion to end the non public session was made by Gordon Ellis,                                    seconded by Bill Yeaton.  On a roll call, the board voted:

                        Barbara Doughty (chair) stated that no decisions were made by the board during                                   the non-public session.

 

            B. Acceptance of Gift

 

                        Barbara Doughty indicated that an offer of a gift was made by Mr. and Mrs. Gelinas to purchase new uniforms for the ECS Girls’ Soccer Team.  The board discussed this offer.

 

                        A motion was made by Barbara Doughty, and seconded by Bill Yeaton, to approve acceptance of the gift for new soccer uniforms for the ECS Girls’ Soccer team, with the stipulations that the gift and the name(s) of the donors be made public, and that Mr. Connors send a note home with all students explaining the nature of the gift and acknowledging the donor(s).

                        The board extended its thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Gelinas for their generous donation.

            Hearing no further business to be conducted by the Board, Barbara Doughty adjourned                         the meeting at 7:55 P.M.

 

            The board’s next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday  September 6, 2006 at 6:00 P.M.
