Tom Irzyk, Vice Chairman called the meeting to order at 6:40pm in the Allenstown Elementary Library.

The following members were in attendance:

Karen LaPlume, Secretary

Capt. Shaun Mulholland

Dennis Carmichael

Ann Viar

Sandra McKenney

Absent: Terri Kenny Stedman Holton

A motion was made by Larry to accept the meeting minutes from February 13th, Al seconded. Shaun and Sandy abstained. All in favor.

Tom reported that he finished filming the video last Friday and all went well. All the students were notified of the filming and no parents contacted the school to request their child not appear in the video. The parents of all the students who are identifiable in the video will be contacted prior to the final cut. The final video is expected sometime the week of February 27th. Once the School Board approves the video it will be uploaded on the schools websites. Tom will request the School Board attend the first part of the committee’s meeting on March 2nd to view and approve the video.

Tom will contact SAU to request a “video coming soon” message be added to the website prior to it being uploaded.

The yard signs were discussed. We will order a quantity of 30 signs and Shaun will request that Sted order the signs. The message will read:

Vote Yes

School Article #1

The committee reviewed the “anticipated questions” from voters discussed at the last meeting. The question regarding the removal of the modulars was discussed. The committee agreed the appropriate response should be:

We still have additional issues at ARD that will need to be addressed and the committee will continue to work to resolve those issues. So until that point it is not expected that the modules will be removed.

The question referenceing the asbestos in the schools was reviewed and the expected comment from some votes will be “What Asbestos? I didn’t know there was asbestos in the schools”. The response should be:

There are asbestos tiles under the carpets. In their present condition they do not pose a health risk. The carpets need to be replaced therefore; once the carpets are pulled up we will need to remove the tiles. An annual asbestos inspection is performed, looking for any cracked or broken tiles which may pose a health risk. Any issues uncovered are required to be taken care of immediately.

Karen will create a Q & A reference sheet for those individuals who will be delivering flyers door to door on March 11th. Cell phone numbers will be given to the volunteers as a means of gathering unknown answers as opposed to communicating incorrect information. Copies of the reference sheets will be given to both schools for reference as well.

The committee and other volunteers will meet at AES on Saturday, March 11th at 9:00am for a supply of flyers and maps of assigned areas. Shaun will breakout maps with recommended target areas and will bring them to the next meeting.
